Provisional Comfort

Drawing on domestic textile traditions, these recent works reference patchwork quilts and textured blankets, familiar objects of warmth and care. At the same time, they hint at the fragility of “home” in a time of environmental instability, displacement, and economic uncertainty. Sewn together from used tea bags and remnants of coffee filters, materials tied to the rhythms and rituals of daily life, the works mimic the softness, movement, and familiarity of cloth. Yet they remain fragile and impractical, made from materials never meant to last. They suggest that comfort can be pieced together, and that a sense of home can take shape from unexpected remnants.
