Traces
what's left behind
Traces is a series of textile explorations of Toronto’s Leslie Street Spit, a finger of land that juts into Lake Ontario, surrounded by water and sky. Built with construction rubble, and then reclaimed by nature, the Spit is an otherworldly place where rusted and broken debris pokes through the verdant overgrowth. Using dried wildflowers and rusty metal collected on site over numerous visits, this series plays with the contrasts and incongruities presented by the Spit's landscape.
