About the Artist
who I am

Jennifer Coghill is a Toronto/T’Karonto-based mixed-media fiber and textile artist and a graduate of the Ontario College of Art (AOCA) in graphic design. Using both machine and hand stitching, she expands on the sewing traditions of the women in her family before her.
Coghill's recent body of work, the Coffee Culture series, and her installation Consumed!, started with the creation of Café Curtains for the 2023 Design TO Festival. Using waste materials from coffee and tea preparation, she selects these unexpected elements for their ability to capture the fleeting imprints of daily rituals, moments in time, and the comfort of home. Each used coffee filter, tea bag, coffee package, or burlap sack holds its own story, but when stitched together, they weave a larger narrative about waste, beauty, value, and reuse.
