Jennifer Coghill is a Toronto (T’Karonto) mixed-media fibre artist whose practice begins with reuse and material transformation. Using discarded and transient materials, she creates works that reflect her environmental concerns, drawing on the materials, routines, and habits that shape daily life.

Inspired by domestic textile traditions, her recent works reference patchwork quilts and worn blankets — familiar objects associated with warmth, comfort, and care. Created with used tea bags and fragments of coffee filters, these works are rooted in shared daily rituals. Through stitching, layering, and repair, they begin to mimic the softness, drape, and familiarity of cloth. At the same time, they remain delicate and impractical, made from materials never intended to last.

These artworks hold the tension between comfort and fragility. In times of instability and displacement, they consider how a sense of home can be pieced together from fragile remnants of everyday life.
