About the Artist
who I am
Jennifer Coghill is a Toronto-based textile artist who creates mixed-media fiber-based work. A graphic design graduate of the Ontario College of Art (AOCA), Coghill started making textile and fibre art in 2021. Her work explores themes of home, ritual, transformation, interconnection and sustainability.
Coghill’s most recent series, Coffee Culture, explores the reuse and repurposing of waste materials such as used coffee filters, tea bags and coffee packaging, elevating their humble origins and creating unexpected juxtapositions. In creating art and decorative objects using these unexpected substrates, the resulting contrast between what they were, and what they have become, challenges conventional notions of beauty and value, asking viewers to re-imagine their rituals of consumption and waste.
