About the Artist

an introduction

Jennifer Coghill is a Toronto (T’Karonto) mixed-media fiber and textile artist whose practice centres on reuse and material transformation. A design graduate of the Ontario College of Art, she employs sewing and textile techniques rooted in domestic traditions to create artworks that quietly question consumption and disposability.

Drawn to the beauty of impermanence and the quiet poetry of everyday materials, she transforms used and discarded objects into work that reflects on renewal and invites moments of reflection and connection. Rooted in domestic textile traditions, particularly quilting, her work draws on associations of comfort, care, and home—ideas that carry particular weight in a time of uncertainty. Though the works resemble soft textiles, they are fragile and impractical, made from materials never meant to last. By shifting waste into careful, time-intensive forms, she explores how materials can change in meaning and value.
